Toyo Proxes R1R (PXR1R) High Performance Tyre

Recently, we Hiap Hoe Loon Tai Sdn. Bhd. and our sister company, H20 One Stop Sdn. Bhd. had acquired the retailing rights to distribution of TOYO Tires to end-users (i.e. authorized dealer). Adhering to our main principle, we at Hiap Hoe Loon Tai Sdn. Bhd. had pursued large variety of retailing rights, for expanding our inventory of goods as we were aspired to be the largest sole tire dealership with the widest range of tire brands  available, and when it comes to TOYO Tires, there is no exception to it. Although TOYO Tires are still a foreign based distribution/manufacturing company, we have the widest range of TOYO Tires products available, all which are exquisitely imported from Japan.

When it comes to performance and great driving experience, the tire tread pattern is practically the driving force of the vehicle. Without it, the vital static and kinetic traction will be impossible and the vehicle would literally skimming on the pavement instead of driving over it. However, it does not necessarily meant that any simple tread patterns will guarantee successful traction, it requires the perfect harmony between the geometry of the tread patterns and the ratio of tire and pavement contact surface.
Depending on the frequent road and driving condition experienced by the tire, the tread pattern must be design specifically for the type of exposure, otherwise, the tire exerted under enormous driving stress would simple failed to perform due to the insufficient compatibility tread pattern design.
As an informal consent, drivers who frequently pushing the envelope of their vehicle and poor road conditions especially during raining spells, the tire pattern compatible under these circumstances should possess an arrow head like tread pattern.
With TOYO PROXES R1R (PXR1R) tread pattern, drivers will experience great handling during slick and dry road conditions. Drivers will also noticed the performance of the vehicle increases, as the PXR1R tread pattern weights lower than its counterparts. Wear and tear of the PXR1R tread pattern is lower, due to its intricate tread pattern design and the high tensile strength steel meshes used as sort of the back bone of the tire, thus with these attributes, increases the life span of the tire. However, there is a slight trade-off, drivers may consciously or unconsciously noticed that the noise generated by this particular tread pattern is slightly higher than most other tires. Stiffer material used in the tread pattern means increased amplitude of vibration experienced by the driver and passengers alike, to counteract this, we at Hiap Hoe Loon Tai suggest the use of center cones and with our laser alignment apparatus, the vibration generated will significantly be reduced to almost none.

Continental ContiCrossContact UHP (Ultra High Performance)

Does this scene seems a little too familiar? Or maybe it resembles a scene from a horror movie. Either way no one in their right mind adores a flat tyre, especially when you're in a hurry for work, stuck in a traffic jam or long distance travel and indeed a flat tyre will make things worse for you. A flat tyre may be caused by numerous attributes, namely sharp and stiff objects like nails. There are also cases where the tyre is punctured not by sharp object but the result of a collision between tyre and a blunt object which is intensified if the vehicle was driven at a very high velocity.
Let's draw out a scenario where the despicable event of a punctured tyre did occurred, so what can be done?  Well the quickest and cheapest method would be to stop by at the nearest tyre shop and ask for a simple patch work, though this method is effective but there's a catch, it won't last long and before you know it your tyre will begin deflating from the point of puncture. Depending on how frequent the tyre's being driven, it's best to change the punctured tyre for a new tyre one should you rely heavily on your car for commute. Well that's easier said than done if you're a Porsche Cayenne owner.
Here's the problems facing most Porsche Cayenne owners.
  1. The Suitable Tyre is at most of the time, difficult to locate as most tyre dealers do not keep stock for it.
  2. Sometimes in desperation, most tyre dealers would suggest to change for a smaller diameter tyre but by doing so, the vehicle's performance and overall physical appeal would be downgraded.
  3. Price is one thing, great service is another (Come on.. It's a Porsche..)
And here's where we H2O One Stop Sdn. Bhd. steps in, introducing,

Continental ContiCrossContact UHP

Specification;

Tyre Model:
ContiCrossContact UHP
Tyre Size:
295/35R21
Tyre Load Index:
107 = 975Kg
Tyre Speed Index:
Y = Over 300Km/h

from what we can understand from our patrons was that this particular size and pattern was virtually impossible to locate in most of Klang area's tyre and rim dealers.

Here's an important fact, which is this particular new tread pattern was specifically design for Ultra High Performance vehicles. But having said that, most vehicle requires different tread width and tyre diameter to perform at it's best, therefore the above mention pattern size was made for Porsche Cayenne.
The five vertical groove promotes greater handling on the road for both dry and wet conditions, the groove functions similar to a drain, which is to allow the body of water to flow smoothly around the circumference of the tyre. this is important because should the water isn't dissipated from the surface of the tyre rapidly, the water molecules will decrease the kinetic friction between the contacting surfaces of the tyre and the road thus reducing traction and increases the chances of the tyres skidding

The 3D blocks on the surface of the tyre was engineering for maintaining and even increases handling on curves and decreases braking distance. It works by deforming slightly in respect to offset the reaction forces generated from multiple forces, namely centrifugal and centripetal forces as well as the forces generated from sudden acceleration and rapid deceleration (braking intensively).

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2

As i have noted in my previous post, in 2011 Goodyear will launch 2 High Performance Tyre tread patterns, the first pattern introduced to South East Asia was Eagle F1 Directional 5. Meant for middle range high performance cars, this particular tread pattern was engineered precisely to be a balance between stylish and performance. Ultimately Eagle F1 Directional 5 was set to the new icon of style and control. Then came Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, this baby is all about traction, grip and bringing out the best in tyre tread pattern technology available to date.

 Specification;
Tyre Model:
Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
Tyre Size: 255/45R18
Tyre Load Index: 103 = 875Kg
Tyre Speed Index: Y = 300Km/h

because Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 is meant for high end performance  vehicles, therefore it's smallest available size by its width and diameter is 215/45R17 91Y with maximum tolerable load of 615Kg with a maximum tolerable speed of over 300Km/h

The largest available size would be 275/30R19 96Y with maximum tolerable load to 710Kg with a maximum tolerable speed of over 300Km/h

Why should my money goes to Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2?
First of all by the turn of 2011, most Goodyear's high performance tyres were infused with a substance called Black Carbon that offset rolling resistance and by doing so the kinetic friction generated is significantly less effective compared to other tyres that aren't enhanced with this Black Carbon Substance. Even with Black Carbon compound, Goodyear's Research and Development team concluded that for the new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tread pattern to be one of the best high performance tyre, a series of innovative design and attributes must be included for the tyre to withstand the enormous forces acting upon it, as well as to increase thermal conductivity dissipate heat efficiently via means of conduction or convection and Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 must do all these as in the same time to perform at it's best,
enter the Active Braking Technology

Active Braking Technology Entities
Enhance Road Traction
Take a look closer at any tyre tread patterns that are commercially available, notice that on the tread pattern there is a number of parallel grooves that runs the entire circumference of the tyre, these grooves is indispensable for the overall performance and life span of a tyre. As for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, notice that beside each grooves there are 3 dimensional patterns that wee bit resembles an ice cube tray, these 3 dimensional pattern is no ordinary pattern for Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, the guys at Goodyear R&D lab came up with an innovative 3 Dimensional block design that expands under intense braking conditions.
This expansion or deformation is reversible, meaning that as soon as the tyre is not subjected to immense braking forces, the 3D block will almost instantaneously springs back to it's original size. The purpose for this deformation was to elevate the effective percentage of tyre's surface area in contact with the road in order to generate higher effective tyre and road traction thus increases vehicle's stability, handling and decrease braking distance up to 3m compared to most other tyre brand

More Stopping Power
All tubeless and pneumatic tyres are able to flex under stress, this kind of stress is generated as the tyre is subjected to sudden high torque acceleration or abrupt braking. If you were the type of driver that loves to step the pedal to the metal (literally for both brakes and throttle) then you'll know that after some time, the side line of the tyre or in easy term, the wall of the tyre will begin to show signs of minute cracks or miniature fissure. The presence of such indicates that the structure integrity of the tyre is beginning to degrade and of course it is very dangerous to keep on using these defective tyres for some period. But by Goodyear's claim, Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 is engineered have stiffer and stronger side wall.

  Every Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyres will have 2 plies of side wall and every one of these plies will have a lining of support columns that are angled at 86 degrees, then these plies will be sandwich together at opposite direction to form a criss cross pattern. The sandwiched plies forms an extra geometrical support to further strengthen the overall side wall.

Enhanced Wet Grip
Due to the industry's secrecy, we may never know what is the exact ingredient for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, but what from i knew was that based on Goodyear's claim, the particular compound used in most Goodyear's high performance tyres have enhanced traction compared to other tyre manufacturers and this compound provides outstanding grip on normal dry tarmac and even on wet roads.

well, if you are a high performance car owner/enthusiast, then you must have Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyres outfitted for your precious cars. Because driving a high performance car isn't complete without a set of high performance tyre.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5

It was just 4 months after the clock struck 12 midnight signifying the beginning of a new year that is 2011, a new start for most of us to focus on our own newly drafted new year resolution. It seems that for this year, Goodyear's 2011 resolution were to unveil 2 new tyre tread pattern dedicated for high performance, by that i meant drivers that are addicted with the adrenaline rush from driving on the edge. For this post, i will discuss about the pros and cons of just one tread pattern from the mentioned 2. The tread pattern in focus would be, Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5, well the designated pattern name maybe a mouthful but the tyre itself is loaded with physical attributes that may (in a sense) actually save your life and pocket all under the same time.

 Specification;
Tyre Model: Eagle F1 Directional 5
Tyre Size: 205/45R16
Tyre Load Index: 83 = 487Kg
Tyre Speed Index: W = 270Km/h

because Eagle F1 Directional 5 is meant for middle range high performance  vehicles, therefore it's smallest available size by its width and diameter is 195/55R15 85W with maximum tolerable load to 515Kg with a maximum tolerable speed of 270Km/h

The largest available size would be 225/40R18 92Y with maximum tolerable load to 630Kg with a maximum tolerable speed of over 300Km/h

So Why Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5?

By the turn of 2011, Goodyear has been infusing most of their brand new tread pattern with a slick substances they call the Black Carbon that acts as a catalyst in offsetting the rolling resistance. This means that in the event the car were shifted to neutral from it's initial drive position, the car will be in motion for a significant distance until it arrives to a stationary position. For Eagle F1 Directional 5, Goodyear came up with another race-inspired tread compound known to be SportGrip Technology where this compound have higher molecular chain and high thermal conductivity to dissipated heat generated from kinetic friction and provides outstanding grip on wet roads.

One main key feature in the new Eagle F1 Directional 5 tread pattern was the additional solid centre line rib (as illustrated in the left picture)

Imagine a fish swimming in the pond, as we all may have known fishes have one large bone on its centre, this bone was instrumental for a fish in providing support and acts as a propeller where the centre bone moves side to side to push the fish forward and also any direction the fish may want to travel to.

The same concept applies to Eagle F1 Directional 5 Solid Centre Line feature. the centre mass will deformed slightly in respect to the direction of the car being driven to. This slight deformation ensures that more surface area of the tyre were in contact with the road to generate higher kinetic friction for a better grip and handling.

Cornering with Eagle F1 Directional 5 installed was relatively a smooth one even during high speed. This is all thanks to the Continuous Shoulder Rib (as seen on the illustrated picture to the left)
Continuous Shoulder Rib act as a buffer zone for the deformation to occur on rather than other parts of the tyre that is not in constant contact with the road. As a result, more surface area in contact with the road thus ensuring better grip and vehicle handling.

Eagle F1 Directional 5 truly a tyre design to be a balance between stylish and performance.
Not to mention, Eagle F1 Directional 5 overall design helps increase mileage with its Optimized Cavity Shape that evenly distribute pressure on the tyre to ensure a continuous road contact and resilient to wear and tear. A Quieter Ride with its Closed Shoulder Design to reduce overall noise emissions for a smoother and quieter ride

The only drawback of Eagle F1 Directional 5 is that the smallest available size is 15 Inch, a very bad news to compact car owners. Maybe its time to consider for a middle range high performance car. Ya?

Experience an exhilarating drive like no other, with Goodyear Tyres.

Silverstone Synergy M5

From the previous post, i have noted the fact that Silverstone unveils their latest line of tread pattern called Synergy and from the previous post, i have only discuss about the pros and cons of Silverstone Synergy M3. Therefore, to complete the story of Silverstone Synergy line, i'm enthusiast to announce the other Synergy design  identified by the calling M5 (not the BMW M5, mind you). Synergy M5 was introduced by the end of 2010, which was targeted for higher-middle range vehicle owners with a conscience mind for environmental conservation.

Specification;
Tyre Model: Synergy M5
Tyre Size: 195/50R15
Tyre Load Index: 82 = 475Kg
Tyre Speed Index: V = 240Km/h

because M5 is meant for higher-middle range vehicles, therefore it's smallest available size is 195/65R15 91H/V with maximum load of 615Kg and maximum range of tolerable speeds of 210Km/h to 240Km/h
The largest available size is 205/40ZR17 84W with maximum load of 500Kg and maximum capable speeds of 270Km/h

Silverstone Synergy M5s' Competitive Edge
Again, all data/results would be retrieved from Silverstone's own Research and Testing simplified report. Yet still as a wholesaler as well as end user cater, so far the feedback on Synergy M5 was astoundingly great with most of our customers who uses M5 claimed that the tyre was particularly great in handling under great speeds and most importantly was that most did experienced noticeable enhanced fuel efficiency and the last but not least, great prices without compromising performance.

The Bar graph shows that Synergy M5 managed to achieve a minimum fluctuation in Coefficient of Rolling Resistance, thanks to this the friction generated between the contacting surfaces of tyre and road was reduced to a level that is beneficial when it comes to fuel efficiency but did not compromise vital grip and handling.

Equilibrium Tread Radii (ETR) Functions by minimizing deformation of tread rubber and steel belt package during loading conditions, either during the vehicle is stationary or moving. By doing so, ETR helps lower rolling resistance and in turn beneficial to fuel consumption and comfortable silent ride.

Optimized Apex Contour (OAC) Specially engineered in merge with a brand new combination of Superhard Apex Compound that prevents high deformation level at the bead region.

Low Hysteresis Tread Compound (Eco-Tread) derived from Silverstone's extensive research in materials engineering. The result would be further fuel efficiency by lower the entire tyre's net weight.

With great price and Great performance, with a good balanced ratio in handling and grip, this tyre will really makes you wanna do this;

Silverstone Synergy M3

By the turn of the millennium, it seems that the prominent hype of most urban dwellers would be the demand for sustainable energies, sustainable life-style and environmental friendly products. For this we see most major corporate struts their best on tapping this ever-growing business opportunity, well the same goes to Silverstone. To prove that they too have what it takes to be a responsible corporate, Silverstone unveils Synergy M3 for middle range vehicles namely compact cars.

Specification;
Tyre Model: Silverstone Synergy M3
Tyre Size: 175/70 R13
Tyre Load Index: 82 = 475Kg
Tyre Speed Index: H = 210Km/h

because M3 is meant for middle range vehicles, therefore it's smallest available size is 155/80R12 77T with maximum load of 412Kg and maximum capable speeds of 190Km/h
The largest available size is 185/60R14 82H with maximum load of 475Kg and maximum capable speeds of 210Km/h

The M3's Competitive Edge

So why Synergy M3? when there is so much more to choose from. In respect to Silverstone, below would be Synergy M3s' data and claims.

The Result shows that for a normal and equivalent size tyre had a higher rolling resistance, which meant that more power is required from the engine to turn each wheels, but with M3 installed, rolling resistance dropped and in theory fuel efficiency had increased to 6.2%

During the vulcanization process, Silverstones' engineers managed to come up with an innovative steel mesh design as well as the compression chamber during the forming process, which in result helps catalyst the optimization of radial and lateral compression of tyre structure, thus creates a lightweight but durable tyre.

Due to most of the noted factors above, Synergy M3 possess pliant sidewalls that aided the absorbency of unwanted random lateral movement due to road irregularities, thus diminishes motion triggered sickness.

To further increase grip factor between the contacting surfaces of Synergy M3 with the road pavement and to reduce rolling resistance, Silverstone utilizes their specially formulated rubber compound with their very own unique blend of polymer

by claim, Synergy M3 provides better and soothing ride, although it may look ordinary, but M3's tread pattern is deliberately designed to minimize energy loss due to shuffling of tread pattern elements during service.

Continental ContiSportContact 5 CSC5

Continental had a wide range of tyres for selection based on the driver’s experience, daily driving environment, also not to mention is the type of car used.  Just recently Continental strut its best and unveils the latest tread pattern for those adventurous drivers. Introducing, Continental’s latest tread pattern upgrade, ContiSportContact 5 (CSC5). What’s new here is that Continental included one of their best kept secret silicon compound as one of the major contributor of material in make.

Black Chili Compound

The oddly named Black Chili Compound was first introduced for off-road bicycle application. After continuous testing and research, Continental decided that it’s time to replace the previous silicon compound called Activated Silica (ASC) used for manufacturing passenger car tyres and even some range of light truck vehicles, with Black Chili Compound. Based on Continental’s claim, if compared both of the mentioned compounds, Black Chili offers a 26% lower rolling resistance, a 30% increase in adhesion quality, and a 5% increase in tread life.

By introducing Black Chili Compound into CSC 5, braking distance for vehicle fitted with CSC 5 were drastically reduced as in the event of braking, CSC 5 generates high natural frequency within the Black Chili Compound, the short-chain polymers that made up Black Chili compound react to this braking frequency and thus provide optimal energy absorption. The resulting heat shortens the braking distance on wet and dry roads.

Coupled with large surface area, braking efficiency also increase dramatically as large surface of the tread is constantly in contact with the road thus generates higher surface friction for braking. Black Chili Compound also increase fuel efficiency, because most of CSC 5 is made up of the light weight Black Chili Compound, thus engine could perform at its optimum performance, as most of the torque generated was effectively transferred to the light weight wheel and not used to overcome the inertia of a higher mass wheel.

The physical Attributes of 215/45 R 17 CSC 5

91 = Maximum load of 615KG
W = Capable of handle up to 270KM/h
XL = Can hold for Extra Load
FR = with flange rib ( Rim Protection)
